So you’ve seen them dangling from the Octagon in the Functional Area of our gym but what are they and what are their benefits?
Suspension Training originated from the Navy SEALs and is great for developing strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. It requires the use of a Suspension Trainer (TRX). Suspension Trainers are highly portable performance training tools (you can mount them off of a frame, tree, lodge them in a door) that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete hundreds of exercises!
Unlike a stable bench or machine, a suspension trainer puts your muscles in a constant battle with gravity. Gravity always attacks your weakest point and for most people, that's their core. Combat this by bracing your abs at the beginning of each exercise. That way you reinforce your spine and boost stability. The result will be that you'll generate more power.
Suspension Training offers a huge variety of exercises which targets every muscle in the human body and is also a method of training that is suitable for all levels from beginners all the way through to professional athletes! As it develops functional fitness and a great form of low impact exercise!

Give them a go! Start with 3 sets of 10-12 reps or put three of them together into a circuit of 30seconds each with a 30second rest!
